Information for the paying parent

• If you lose your job or get called to active duty, please call your child support agency (if you get case management services, also known as child support services). They may be able to help you avoid getting in debt.
  
  
• If you get behind in your payments, ask your child support agency about setting up a payment plan.
  
  
• Make sure you attend all scheduled court hearings. Courts may make a decision whether or not you attend the hearing (default judgment).
  
  In many cases, you may be able to attend a hearing by phone (if you don't live near-by). See information about child support attorneys.

Keep in contact with your child support agency if you get case management services or your court if you only get financial services.

• State law requires that you report these changes within 10 days: if you lose your job, if your income changes, if you get a new job, or if you change jobs.
• Update your mailing address when it changes. Many official support notices are sent by mail. To ensure that you receive important notices, your office needs your current mailing address. Contact your child support agency or court to update your information. You can also update your address and phone number online (registration required).
